Maris Taylor Design is a company of American artisans who take special pride in stretching the boundaries of traditional craft forms. Our work, developed by principal designer and artist, Scott Gruber, is influenced as much from earth forms as from ancient architecture. Combinations of contrasting elements like refined colored glass, natural stone, and raw metals form the extraordinary works of functional art that many collectors have found so appealing.

Every item created at Maris Taylor is made to order. Each design is carefully crafted and exemplifies the artisans' pride of workmanship.

Any one of the designs in the Maris Taylor collection contains an adventure in history, geography and geology. The ancient art of fusing glass on copper, called copper or metal enameling, dates back at least 2500 years to Egypt and China and has become a standard element in Mr. Gruber’s designs. Slates from Brazil as well as sandstone from Washington are incorporated into many designs.

Scott Gruber has been creating sculpture and designing jewelry and interior accessories since 1983. He currently lives and works with his wife and business partner Jill Bryant in Tacoma, WA on a small farm where the mountain view and sea air undeniably inspire creativity, and where they also have a nursery and landscaping business.
